Thrilled to say that Achnahaird Farm Wildflower Meadow is now listed as a peoples meadow on the Coronation Meadows website.
Achnahaird Farm Wildflower meadow is an ancient site surrounded by one of the largest stretches of Machair in the northwest highlands. The meadow has a diverse population of wildflowers, including bog asphodel, devils bit scabious, orchids and sneezewort. The best time to see the flowers is during July and August.
The Coronation Meadows Project was set up by HRH The Prince of Wales and is led by Plantlife and in partnership with the Wildlife Trusts and Rare Breeds Survival Trust celebrates surviving meadows. They encourage people to discover the wildflowers within the meadows. The site can be found at coronation meadows.org.uk
My thanks to Struan Grey for the picture which he took while staying at the cottages.
