The equisetum ( horsetail ) was invading the burn, so we decided to take the digger in and try to restore the pool just beyond the bridge.
The ground was pretty boggy at the side of the burn and it was touch and go, but we managed to clear a pretty good sized pool.
This burn runs through the wild flower meadow and we recently counted five different types of orchid flowering here. We have seen small trout this year and hopefully the new pool will encourage them to hang around a bit longer. A good days work but we were all glad to finish as the midges were taking over towards the end of the day.
